Rewilding Oder Delta

Core activity:

Rewilding Oder Delta, operating since 2019 as an independent association based in Stolpe an der Peene (Germany), focuses on the renaturation of the Oder River and its delta. It initiates projects to restore natural river processes, e.g., on the tributaries Ina and Gowienica, and improves fish migration and water quality. Rewilding Oder Delta consists of German and Polish members and works trans-regionally and trans-nationally.

Goal(s) and relation to the Oder:

Following the ecological disaster on the Oder River in 2022, it supports the restoration of ecosystems, monitors species such as white-tailed eagles and beavers, and promotes the return of fauna (e.g., moose). It organizes educational events, such as River University, as well as river clean-up and tree planting campaigns to involve local communities in the protection of the Oder Delta.
